Asia, China
In this region China and Pakistan are currently partner countries within the LTP. Both countries, having civil as well as military nuclear programmes and being key actors in Asia, are important strategic partners in the fight against the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
While China already joined the programme as full-scope country under the framework of the first BAFA-implemented PP05, Pakistan became ad-hoc country by the start of LTP 2008. Due to the different modes of cooperation and the varying duration of cooperation, the work done within the EU programme differentiates between these two neighbouring countries. However, the programme seeks to deepen cooperation with both partners.
