Armenia
Relations between the EU and Armenia are governed by the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement signed between the two sides in 1996 and entered into force in 1999. More recently, EU-Armenia relations were extended by the European Neighbourhood Policy of which Armenia became a part in 2004. Armenia is also a beneficiary in several cooperation programmes with the EU.
Armenia requested assistance from the UNSCR 1540 Committee to get support from other states for implementing necessary provisions. Furthermore, Armenia fully supports and has committed itself to fighting against the proliferation of WMD. This commitment is in part shown by the country’s efforts to build and implement an effective export control system while continuing to cooperate on the nuclear energy sector.
