Middle East
There are four partner countries in the Middle East region, namely Egypt, Iraq, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The region has a geographically high relevance in the fight against the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Effective national dual-use export control systems contribute to political stability beyond the region, making each of the four partner countries an important strategic partner of the project.
Currently, the United Arab Emirates are the only full-scope country within the region. UAE joined the programme under PP05 and since then activities in all five cooperation pillars have been conducted. By the start of LTP 2008, Egypt became an ad-hoc partner country and later in 2011 Iraq and Jordan joined the programme.
