Current EU cooperation with the Philippines is governed by the EU – ASEAN Agreement of 1980. In June 2010. The final round of negotiations between the EU and the Philippines on a PCA was completed. The Country Strategy Paper 2007 – 2013 outlines the overall objectives of cooperation between the EU and the Philippines.
The Philippines requested assistance form the UN 1540 committee in areas such as border control, enhancement and upgrade of container and cargo security in several seaports and drafting of appropriate laws governing border monitoring.
